TYPE + TEXT BASED DESIGNS

There are two ways of approaching the Text + Type Tutorials. The first is just follow along with the Tutorial. You can go through the Adobe Fonts or use free websites like dafont.com to find a similar font for the tutorial (it doesn’t have to be exact). I do recommend switching out the Fonts and the actual Text while following along. This will allow you to create your own as you are going through the tutorial. Enroll in Text + Shape Based Designs

  • Find Fonts you Like
  • Match Fonts to Style or Subject
  • Match Hand Drawn Fonts with Blob Brush Workflow
  • Select your own swatches from Color Themes

Find More Fonts: The easiest fonts will be coming from Adobe Fonts. The process to Install them is very simple. I do recommend using the desktop or web version so you can navigate and actually see the fonts. Login to your Adobe Creative Cloud or into your Adobe account online. The desktop version will just move you to the web.

ACTIVE LEARNING

Our Active Learning is designed to give you time in the program to advanced through our Learning Phases from Learning the Program to Creating your Own Artwork.

TEXT EFFECTS

We will be still building out in a Step by Step Format for those of you who are new to Building and using the Type Tools. Most of our attention will be in the Appearance Panel and Layering multiple effects on top of each other to get professional results.

SHAPE-BASED DESIGNS

A lot of our attention in this Curriculum will be Non-Drawing Based Solutions in Adobe Illustrator. We will use Shape and Type Tools to Create Badge Logos and Banners.

SELECTING FONTS

When looking for Fonts, it is easier to think of what you are looking to create or have it done already. If you already have a subject in mind or a style in mind it will cut done on going through all of the fonts. Use the filters or categories that as you are going the the Font Sites or Adobe Fonts.

FONTS + TEXT

When we use the Type tool, take advantage that you can type in any word that you would like. The tutorial has been designed for you to be able to switch it out or use along with some of our tutorials that go from a photo.

NON-DRAWING BASED

The main goal by using the Type Tool is to give more non-drawing based solutions as you are learning the program. The Type tool also allows you to be creating your own as you are following along to the tutorials.

SHAPE-BASED DESIGNS

The idea on the Pro Series is we are looking at combining tutorials together or elements from different tutorials together. The main push is to get you creating your own artwork as you are going through the Tool-Based Workflows. Many of you already have a style or subject in mind which is what the open format tutorials and designs are made for so you can immediately enter in the text, type or fonts that align to your own personal style. The more you complete from a photo in the workflows and creating your own, the more pieces or finished elements you can add through the template designs. Enroll in Text + Shape Based Designs

  • Create Templates
  • Insert your own Words + Text
  • Add in your own Fonts + Colors
  • Bring in Finished elements from Creating your Own

FOLLOW ALONG

Each one is still in the Active Learning format to build out a template. Some of the newer ones have are starting from a photo and bringing them through a Text or Design. This is so you can see how to start combining elements together.

OPEN-FORMAT

Just like the Text and Type tutorials, these are a little more in the open format so you can add in your own words as you are building them out. So I encourage you to be creating your own as your are learning.

TEMPLATE + COMBINE

We have already started combining some of the elements together. The tutorials will have place holders (X) which can be easily switched out for another element as you are finishing up your own artwork. I would recommend combining finished pieces that you started from a photo.

Active Learning Curriculum: I have been posting Full-Length Tutorials, Challenges and Workflows over the last year to Teachable*. So what we are going to do in this Guide is catch you up on how to go through the 100 Full-Length Learning Modules on Teachable*.

Active Learning is a Retention Model to Learn New Topics Quickly by Immediately Applying the Information. What we are focusing in on during each Step by Step Module is how to Apply the Tools and Options of Adobe Illustrator within a Workflow. Many of you are coming over from YouTube and like the Follow Along Process of Learning.

One of the easiest ways to Learn Adobe Illustrator is through our Workflow Model. What we are focusing on during each Learning Module is How to Apply the Tools, but I also want to give you a Structure and Sequence to Build your Own Artwork in Adobe Illustrator. The idea in Premium was to give enough Follow Along Step by Steps for a Beginner to Learn, but leave enough in an Open-Format as you Advance through the Learning Targets to our Pro Series.

ACTIVE LEARNING

Our Active Learning Curriculum is designed to give you time in the program to advanced through our Learning Phases from Learning the Program to Creating your Own Artwork. WORKFLOW MODEL

The goal of our Tool-Based Workflows is for you to Practice the Tools and Options so you can apply the concepts to your own artwork. Each of the Learning Modules aims to be completed in an hour, so you have plenty of time for the rest of the day to apply the concepts to your own artwork or continue with another Module.
