Welcome to our Getting Started Guide for our Full-Length Tutorials, Challenges and Workflows on Teachable*. What we are going to do in our Getting Started Guide is catch you up on Downloading Illustrator Resources, Selecting a Tool-Based Workflow and Follow Along to our 100 Full-Length Learning Modules on Teachable*.

All of our Tool-Based Workflows and 100 Full-Length Modules are included in our Active Learning Curriculum on Teachable. Teaching Adobe Illustrator in a Tool-Based Workflow is my favorite way to teach, since it Builds the Sequence and Order of Events as you are Applying and Practicing the Tools. The Workflow Series is similar to our Challenge Series on YouTube, but it is my Actual Daily Workflow.

Our Active Learning Curriculum on Teachable includes all of the Adobe Illustrator Brushes, Textures + Resources. Our 100 Full-Length Learning Models are in a Follow Along or Step by Step Format. Our Active Learning Curriculum is for those of you who Like to Learn by Doing. This is a simple Retention Model for Learning since you are immediately Applying the Tools, Options and Settings in Adobe Illustrator.

ACTIVE LEARNING CURRICULUM

STEP #1: ENROLL IN OUR ACTIVE LEARNING CURRICULUM. What we are going to do in our Getting Started Guide is catch you up on how to Download our Illustrator Resources, Select a Tool Based Workflow and Follow Along to our 100 Full-Length Learning Modules on Teachable*. Our Active Learning Curriculum on Teachable includes all of the Tool-Based Workflows, Unit Blocks and 100 Full-Length Modules.

WORKFLOWS + UNIT BLOCKS

STEP #2: PICK A WORKFLOW OR UNIT BLOCK TO START. Many of you Following Along on Teachable will select a Tool-Based Workflow based on your Available Materials (Pen Tool, Tablet-Based Workflow or Pro Series Design). Our Active Learning Curriculum on Teachable includes all of the Tool-Based Workflows, Unit Blocks and 100 Full-Length Modules.

100+ LEARNING MODULES

STEP #3: FOLLOW ALONG ON TEACHABLE. The first thing to note is that everything is in a Full-Length Step by Step Format in our Active Learning Curriculum. Each of the 100 Individual Learning Modules aims to be completed in around or under an hour. Our Active Learning Curriculum on Teachable includes all of the Adobe Illustrator Brushes, Textures + Resources.

How to Start: Many of you Following Along will select a Tool-Based Workflow based on your Available Materials (Pen Tool or Tablet-Based Workflows). Our Active Learning Curriculum on Teachable has all of the Unit Blocks and 100 Full-Length Modules. If you have a tablet, I would start on the Tablet-Based Workflows and the Pencil Tool (Ease of Use).

Tool-Based Workflows + Unit Blocks: Unit Blocks, Tool-Based Workflows and Pro Series are organized on Teachable with our Learning Targets. You can start on any of the Tool-Based Workflows (Pen Tool, Tablet-Based Workflows or Pro Series Design) with the 1st Module.

Beginner to Advanced: Our Active Learning Curriculum has approximately 100 Hours of Step by Step Instruction to Advance through the Learning Targets from Beginner to Mastery. This is so you can Follow Along with the Resources Provided while you are Learning Adobe Illustrator and then progress through the Learning Targets to Creating your Own. We have Drawing for Illustrator Lessons to start Replacing my Art with yours until you are independently Creating Your Own Artwork.

PEN TOOL WORKFLOWS

FOCUS: The nice part of the Pen Tool Workflow is it is it have a high level of control, but there are some little hacks if you know how to use the tools together. As you are going through the Workflows, compare and contrast to your own artwork so you can start to select the coloring and value methods that best match your own design style.

TABLET BASED WORKFLOWS

FOCUS: We are focusing on our Tablet Series with the Blob Brush and Pencil Tools. The Pencil Tool is my go to tool for the Tablet. It allows for speed, but also offers more control than the Blob Brush which we will use along with the Tablet Pressure Settings. As you Advance through the Modules play around with the Speed and the Efficiency Model.

TEXT + DESIGN TUTORIALS

FOCUS: We will be still building out in a Step by Step Format for those of you who are new to Building and using the Shape and Type Tools. Most of our attention will be in the Appearance Panel and Layering multiple effects on top of each other to get professional results.

We have 100+ Step by Step Tutorials, Challenges and Tool-Based Workflows in our Curriculum. You can Follow Along to Individual Modules or use our Unit Blocks and Learning Targets to Plan out your Week.

We have 6 Areas of Focus as you are going through the Individual Modules (You will see the Focus on the Thumbnails). The major areas of Focus will be Blob Brush (Efficiency Workflow + Applying Pressure), Pencil Tool Workflow (Ease of Use), Pen Tool Workflows (Logo + 2 Step Approach), Building with Shapes (Shape-Based Design), Building with Text (Text-Based Design) and Advanced Coloring. As you Advance through the Modules, I encourage you to Follow Along to our Drawing for Illustrator Lessons to Start from your Own Sketch.

How to Follow Along to a Learning Module. Each Individual Learning Module (100 Full-Lengths) aims to be completed in around or under an hour, so you have plenty of time for the rest of the day to apply the concepts to your Own Artwork. The Learning Module Thumbnails are organized by Tool-Based Workflows, Unit Blocks and start from the Easiest to More Challenge in Teachable.

LEARN ILLUSTRATOR

The First Phase of the process is just to learn the program within the Linear Workflow Model. If you are still struggling and frustrated in Adobe Illustrator, I would recommend following along with the Step by Step Instruction along with the Resources Provided. APPLY + PRACTICE TOOLS

Tool-Based Workflows is my favorite way to teach, since it Builds the Sequence and Order of Events.
